Our client is an international company in the rail-transport technology with over 5700 employees in 24 different countries. Its product range includes braking and safety systems as well as couplers, vehicle electronics, air conditioning technology and electromechanics. In addition, the project management, sales and service for the entire German-speaking area, including Austria, Switzerland and the Netherlands are being coordinated at its largest German site.

To support the Business Unit Brake System Engineering at its site in Witten, we are currently looking to recruit a

System Engineer Braking Systems (m/f)

Main responsibilities
  • Prepare and discuss with the customer a technical proposal in line with the Division strategy
  • Ensure the correct transfer of the technical documents prepared during tender phase to the project team
  • Ensure that all technical requirements and demands by the customer are covered by the defined Engineering-Scope.
  • Ensure that all tasks of the defined Engineering-Scope are clearly addressed to a responsible Engineering department
  • Coordinate the execution of engineering activities, control against project schedule, budget and project requirements
  • Technical risks are identified and covered
  • Manage the product development plan, with focus on implementation, integration, verification and homologation.
  • Manage within the project team the brake system homologation process, ensuring the respect and the management of all homologation and certification requirements.
  • Ensure that the delivered product, as the sum of all subfunctions and subsystems, performs as requested to fulfil the customer contract, the internal requirements and the safety requirements

Your profile
  • Bachelor degree in electrical engineering, mechatronics or similar
  • Several years of professional experience as a system or project engineer as well as deep knowledge in the field of design and development of braking systems for trains/rolling stock
  • Excellent written and spoken English skills
  • Experience in working within an international environment
  • Ability to work in international teams
  • Results driven and customer oriented, strategic thinking
  • Proactivity and capacity for teamwork as well as very good communications and integration capabilities
